We initiated a Covid Relief Response campaign during the second wave of Covid-19 in India. We reached more than 5000+ people to help them with mental health resources, support for oxygen, hospital beds, food supplies, medicines etc. We also initiated WhatsApp support groups to amplify people’s calls for help, along with a discord server to help connect people with mental health professionals providing free consultation during these times. We have been sharing positive content and hosting events to help instill a positive attitude, during these hard times.
We also partnered with UNICEF’s Yuwaah India “Young Warrior” initiative, and helped CRIA (Covid Relief India Alliance) onboard 40+ volunteers for their covid efforts.
WhatsApp Support Groups: reached and benefitted 1,500 + people
Mental Health Discord Channel: 100+ participants
As part of our Mental Health Support we also offered free mental health sessions with professionals, conducted a “Chai Chats” round table, Game Nights, and a Movie Night.
WHY I STARTED?
My passion to work for the community, leadership that helps mobilize young people and my vision of propagating change by Partnership to work on SDGs, led to me launching my own social enterprise in 2021- GLOBAL VOLUNTEERS ACTION NETWORK (GVAN). My work is aimed at most directly impacting young people who have a passion to work for social causes, but are bound by lack of skills, education and resources. I want to make an equitable space for each individual to have the capacity to give back to society.
